FlexITy is currently recruiting a full time Platform Specialist (Systems & Storage) in the Managed Services Department.
As a Platform Specialist (Systems & Storage), you will be part of Technical Assistance Center (TAC), reporting to Team Lead. You will provide technical support via phone, email, and remote access to customer sites where solutions are deployed; and proactively manage and monitor customer environments. You will join a team with the responsibility of supporting, planning, designing and building system, storage and data center infrastructure for FlexITy and its Customers. You will be accountable for managing & supporting Systems and Storage devices, recommending & provisioning equipment replacement/upgrades, drafting & maintaining documentation and processes, introducing & integrating new technologies into existing data center environments and performing routine audits of systems and software.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES
- Manage and monitor customer environments from FlexITy’s Technical Assistance Center (TAC) environment
- Working with Microsoft Technologies (Exchange, AD, IAS, ISA, DNS, File Server etc.), VMWARE ESX 4.1 , Storage & Backup Technologies like NetApp, DataDomain, HDS, Symantec NetBackup and Commvault
- Plan, design, build and support x86/x64 virtualization technologies using VMware vSphere
- Help design, build and implement SAN Storage and Backup Solutions
- Configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting end-to-end server, application and network environment
- Plan, design, build and support Windows 2003/2008 Server including Active Directory, Clustering and IIS
- Daily tasks will include working on customer issues and tracking the progress in our ticketing system
- Develop documentation of all tasks and processes within System and Storage domain
- Maintain records of all items concerning custom development, including design documentation, development and support logs in a ticketing system
- Define and document processes and procedures in compliance with ISO and ITIL specifications
- Work with Network management and monitoring tools
- Responsible for implementing and complying with Change Management processes, including attending Change Management meetings and following approval process for all changes
- Ability to recognize when customer problems need to be escalated within FlexITy

REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Computer Studies or equivalent experience
- 5 years’ experience in Microsoft (AD, Exchange 2003 & 2007, Terminal Services, File and Print), NetApp, VMware experience or Certifications (MCSE Preferred)
- 3 years’ experience in VMware, vSphere 4+, VCP preferred
- Excellent knowledge and at least 2+ year’s hands on experience in SAN Technologies e.g., NetApp and Hitachi HDS AMS series
- 3 years’ experience administrating Commvault and/or NetBackup
- Excellent knowledge of Data Center & Storage switching technologies e.g., MDS, Brocade and Nexus Switches
- Expert in all related network services and protocols
- Experience with a range of different environments both in size and technologies
- Experience working with highly available production environments including server clusters and farms, SAN, iSCSI and fiber, IPS, security appliances, DRP, etc.
- Experience working on both small and large projects in a team environment
- Friendly, professional and outgoing to promote positive working relationships
- Receptive and open - being able to listen while taking in and gathering information, then be able to come back with solutions
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Ability to learn new technologies
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with other people of all levels of knowledge
- Ability to read, write and speak the English language to communicate with employees, customers, suppliers, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straight-forward, and professional manner
- Must have good communication skills and be able to manage multiple priorities
- Certifications from Microsoft, NetApp, VMware, Hitachi; would be an asset and preferred
- Cisco CCNA and CCNP would be an asset
- Due to the nature of our 24x7 operation, shift work and on-call will be required
- Candidate will be rotated between Weekend/Weekday Night Shift and Weekend/Weekday’s Day Shift
- Ability to work flexible hours is a must
